Our extensive summer associate program exposes law students to Gallagher & Kennedy’s wide array of practice areas. We recruit motivated, bright, and energetic students who combine intelligence with strong interpersonal skills and a variety of interests. We seek lawyers who are well rounded, creative, and dedicated to the practice of law. We keep our class sizes small to provide individualized attention and training. Through various social events, you will interact with many of our lawyers and clients, and gain a true understanding of our firm’s practice and culture.

Work Assignments
Gallagher & Kennedy is committed to exposing you to the wide variety of practice areas we maintain as a full-service business law firm. In addition to conducting legal research, and preparing motions and pleadings, summer associates accompany attorneys to client meetings, depositions, hearings, and trials. We also involve summer associates in the drafting of agreements, business negotiations, and the closing of transactions.

Mentoring
Our mentoring program is designed to assist you with any questions or problems that arise throughout the summer. Each summer associate is matched with two mentors – a shareholder and an associate. Mentors will periodically meet with you to review and discuss your project evaluations. Our goal is to assign projects to you to provide a balanced workload covering the areas of practice in which you are interested, while providing diversity and an opportunity to work with as many attorneys as possible.

Compensation
The salary for 2008 summer associates is $2,000 per week.
